What Makes YOU Feel Powerful?
My family, and my friends who have become my family, make me feel powerful. They are the people in my life who want me in theirs, and accept me exactly as I am… quirks and everything. Being with them, stumbling into the occasional misunderstanding with them, laughing with them, disagreeing with them… it all makes me feel comfortable in my own skin, and makes me feel powerful just being myself. I feel unstoppable!
I also feel powerful when I am able to break down a big picture vision into small, actionable steps. Then, every little step I take moves me closer to achieving my goals. I feel the same way about positive social change – being able to contribute (with my voice or my wallet) makes me part of a larger stronger community and that makes me feel powerful. After all, a tiny snowball is capable of starting an avalanche.
Favorite color.
Sunset orange & sunshine yellow.
What cheers you up?
Watching an action movie, while drinking a glass of good red wine!
Favorite movie quote.
I LOVE this line from Forrest Gump, "Mama always said life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get."
Favorite day of the week.
Fridays!! We do a Family FriDate every week! My husband, son and I look forward to it all week long... it is our wind-down-together time. The past few weeks, we have been eating sushi at Green Tea, grabbing a beer at Marge's Still, then heading home and watching The Star Wars movies (in sequence) on Amazon Video.
Coffee or Tea?
TEA! A strong English Breakfast or Darjeeling black tea with a spot of milk and a drop of honey.
A book you have read more than 3 times?
Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier. I love how the book starts out and sucks you in "Last night, I dreamt I went to Manderly again..." It is a mystery, romance and a thriller, all rolled into quite simply a delicious read.
Dictionary or Thesaurus?
The Thesaurus! Ensures I am never at a loss for words :)
Do you sing in the shower?
Occasionally. I am quite tone deaf, so it generates a fair bit of laughter and consternation when I butcher favorite songs and tunes.
Netflix or Cable TV?
Netflix for sure. In fact, I just signed up for Google Fiber and cut the Cable TV cord entirely.
Favorite way to break a sweat.
Running. And walking everywhere. And hot vinyasa yoga.
